Honouring personal style

By Damita Lamont 06 January 2017

Georgia Payne had the outdoor garden wedding she had always dreamed of when she married Michael McBay in April this year. The couple deviated from the expected when planning their wedding, choosing instead to honour their own personal styles and tastes.

Personal touches

Georgia and Michael did not have a particular style in mind when they planned their wedding. Instead, the couple added small personal touches to the day, including the bride’s favourite colour, green, and a personalised Jenga set. “I still don’t know exactly what you would describe the theme as, but it was everything I wanted and everything I liked,” Georgia said.

Tastes of Italy

The couple ditched the traditional sit-down, alternate-drop wedding menu and went for something a little more fun. We don’t like it when you attend a wedding and you have to fight over who gets the chicken or beef for main and then you’re still hungry when you leave,” Georgia said. The couple instead had a pizza buffet as their main meal, with a few different pizza toppings to choose from.

Michael’s big day

Not one to make a huge fuss, Michael decided to propose to Georgia on his 25th birthday. “So even though the day was supposed to be about him, it pretty much got overshadowed,” Georgia said. “At one point during the day he put a ring on my finger and just simply said ‘wanna get married?’

Words of wisdom

Georgia advises future brides-to-be to listen to the countless people who will tell them not to stress. “As long as you end up getting married on the day, all that small stuff you have spent countless hours planning does not even really matter,” she said.
